Esi Asare Prah is a Population & Health professional with especial interest in Health Policy and Sexual and Reproductive Health Advocacy.Throughout her career, Esi has worked and volunteered on several initiatives all focused on improving the lives and educational outcomes of young girls through SRHR. Coming from a community where teenage pregnancy was high, Esi in 2014 launched a girl-child empowerment project to advance sexuality education for girls in her community to address the rate of teenage pregnancy and school discontinuation for girls; after her exposure to SRHR through her undergraduate program.
She also joined (and later chaired) the Planned Parenthood Association’s Youth Action Movement (YAM) on her campus. Through YAM, she worked to advanced access to sexual and reproductive health information and services, through the formation of youth health clubs, community outreaches, radio talk shows etc in the central region of Ghana. She also volunteered on Marie Stopes Ghana’s (MSG) ‘No Yawa Project’ and served as a member of its first Youth Advisory Board to promote access to SRHR information & services for young people in Ghana; as well as Msichana Empowerment Kuria in Kenya amongst others.
Esi works as the Advocacy and Youth Focal person for MSG where she coordinates all advocacy projects, develop/Strengthen Strategic internal and external relations with key stakeholders, donors, state institutions and civil society partners, and ensures the delivery of youth responsive interventions and services across the country program. She is also the acting Manager for Advocacy and Donor Relations at MSG.
